In 1638 the German diplomat Cristiano Kopke founded the Douro wine shipping company that became universally recognized as the first Port house in Port wine history. In 2013 Porto Kopke will celebrate 375 years of continuous production of fine Port with grapes from its famous Quinta São Luiz vineyard with its many gold-medal winning vintages. The '87 Colheita has an aromatic nose of toasted cashews and caramel which carries through in the vivid flavors of highly developed flamed sugar and toffee which lingers in the long, elegant finish.
